Welcome to Harrisville Children's Center

Where love, knowledge, and respect come together for the healthy development of the young child

Nestled in a charming and historic mill town, the Harrisville Children’s Center gives children the unique opportunity to explore the beautiful local countryside and feel welcome in a small, rural town. On daily walks to the waterfall or the pond, they are greeted by neighbors and shopkeepers. Harrisville and its people become a landscape the children know and cherish.

We celebrate throughout the year. We walk through the village to deliver baskets of flowers in May and noisily parade dragons for the lunar New Year. Each childs birthday is an occasion celebrated by a gift of a handmade felted crown and a delicious cake made by classmates. All of these special days mark the passage of time and season and connect the children to a larger world of diverse cultures and traditions.

As knowledgeable early childhood educators, we believe children learn by doing. They join in baking bread, stirring soup, and gathering tomatoes from our lovely organic garden. Ours are happy, sturdy children.
